Before I post anything, I thought it would only be right to share with you my ideas and the story behind The Pink Flamingo.
Since I was a child, I have always had a passion for making things. Be it Painting, Drawing, Collage or Mud Pies, you name it - I made it. This passion never left me and in July 2013 I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a 2:1 in Fashion BA (Hons). Upon graduating, I took on a Day-Job and continued to make garments with the left over Paper patterns and fabrics I had from my degree show.
During my 2nd year at Uni, I specialised in Women's Sportswear. I was obsessed with the casual silhouettes, the Tom-Boy attitude and the interesting fabrics..not to mention good old Colour - Blocking. After Graduating I began making running shorts from all the left over fabrics I had (following on from the silk Track shorts I showcased in my degree show) and started selling them on Etsy.com.
Slowly they sold and day by day my business grew.
In 2015 I bought a gorgeous Flamingo print cotton fabric and made it into a pair of running style shorts, teamed with a cute white pom pom trim - The perfect shorts to wear to a music festival.
I couldn't keep up with the demand and in 2015 I changed my shop name to The Pink Flamingo (because who doesn't love Flamingos!?)
I work alone from my kitchen table with a single goal : To make fashion fun. Fashion should be fearless and playful, whatever your shape and size. In 2017 I set up my own online Haberdashery, selling everything from Pom Poms to Lace to Fabric to Iron on Patches. I want to spread my love of making!
One day I would love to open up my own Haberdashery come Boutique, but until then, I will continue to grow The Pink Flamingo Shorts globally...one pair at a time..
