#MarchMeetTheMaker - Day 1
My business story...
Here we go again! Last year I took part in the March Meet The Maker challenge which meant that every day I posted about my business and the content of that post depended on the prompt I was given.
This is a national challenge for any small business and it's really fun if others can take part.
Last year was interrupted slightly by Covid so let's give it another go!
Day 1 is Brand Introduction:
I am Natasha and I run The Pink Flamingo.
I started out 5 1/2 years ago by graduating from Manchester Met and not wanting to forget what I had learned, I carried on making clothing and started selling on Etsy.
Before I knew it I had a teeny, tiny business that grew steadily over the next 5 years.
I specialise in Handmade Clothing, in particular sports inspired Pom Pom Shorts for Women and Children. I love bright colours and statement prints, anything inspired by Summer and Festivals. The brighter and more quirky, the better! Teamed with a casual silhouette and a fun Pom Pom trim, The Pink Flamingo was born!
Over the past few years I have branched out into Men, Women and Kids wear, and alongside the Pom Pom shorts I also make sports shorts, dresses, t - shirts, matching sets and dresses, as well as accessories!
2.5 years ago I also started teaching Sewing Classes which was one of the best decisions I ever made because I love teaching beginners how to Sew! Covid has seen to the stopping of my Sewing Classes but I can't wait to get back up and running!
I run my business single handedly from my Sewing room at home which means that I oversee the designing, making, marketing, packing, posting and overall running of the business.
I love Sewing because of the idea of starting off with a piece of fabric and ending up with a finished piece of clothing!
