I am taking part in an Etsy challenge which I will be doing for the whole of March. Each day I will follow a prompt to share a post with you that tells you more about my business. #ThePinkFlamingo
It is really meant to be an Insta challenge but I'm going to share it on here too, just so more people can view it.
You'll have to bear with me as I don't always get chance to post daily so I'll do my best!
Today the prompt is #Story, so I'm going to tell you a little bit more about how I started out. I'll keep it brief!
I always knew what I wanted to do when I was little, and that was to make things. So after graduating from MMU in 2013 with a Fashion BA Hons, I decided to put my scrap fabrics and spare patterns to good use and I made a few items, which I sold on Etsy. I had just moved back to Cumbria and I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, so sewing was something to keep me busy in the mean time.
Slowly but surely, I sold a few things, so I'd make some more, and so on.
After a couple of years, I set up #ThePinkFlamingo. I'd begun to sell things world wide and my Kitchen table had become my workshop. I loved the idea of starting off with a piece of fabric and an idea and making that idea into a piece of clothing.
I have been running #ThePinkFlamingo for nearly 5 years now and I never set out to start a business. It kind of happened over night!
After 5 years I have done Pop up Shops, Prom Art, Christmas Markets, Blogger Photo shoots and 2 years ago I started teaching Sewing classes - which I love because it gave me my love of Sewing back at a time when things got tough.
5 years later, I finally have my own sewing room, I hand make all of my items and send them across the globe. It isn't always easy, and no two days are the same. But that's what keeps me going!
I love what I do and I plan to carry on making, sewing and teaching as long as I possibly can!
