I have officially watched my first film from The Film Bucket List!
If you haven't seen it, it is definitely a classic. I didn't know "Howards End" existed until it was made into a BBC adaptation at the end of last year. And as it was a period drama, I had to watch it! And I loved it! As soon as I saw it was a film, I had to see that too.
1993 so it's an old film but not too old.
CAST: Emma Thompson, Vanessa Redgrace, Anthony Hopkins and a very young looking Helena Bohnam Carter.
It is based on the story by E M Forster, which I haven't read but as soon as I can, I will.
Without ruining it too much, it is based around the lives of two sisters, Margaret and Helen. Their lives become entangled with that of the Wilcox family when Mrs Wilcox falls ill. The story is based around the two families relationships.
There are lots of twists and turns along the way. I know people associate Period Dramas with being boring and stuffy, but it definitely isn't. It's one to keep you on your toes and I love both the lead characters., which always helps in a film! I haven't read the book but the film remains the same as the BBC adaptation which I imagine isn't too far from the book.
I loved it and it has definitely become one of my favourite films!
